From What My Heart Can Remember

by J James - Pisces

The linger of pink fingertips
while I sip a cider-like mix of
bliss and miserable existance
soury sweet leap into
a new resistance
to the inevitable loss
traces of you
like blue shoelaces
that you wore when we met
that corner
that day
you say you don't remember
what we said
but I replay
the scene in aquamarine
and could recite every moment
like segments of my favorite poem
I know em like my own name
but not quite like I know you
you and that face
when you placed yourself
in my arms
heart racing I fell
harmfully in love's way
like the way I sat on your floor
so I could be closer
to the ground you walked on
and wrote about you
in hopes that
the page wouldn't reject the ink
and think about how
futile my fight is
the battle to rattle
your heart as much as you did mine
but where to find you now
I guess where I found you first
where my thirsty heart
drank this blissful curse
immersed in you I am
though with you I'm not
I've got you where I want you
in this heart's vacant lot
