I'M A BLACK WOMAN (and I'm mad as hell)

by Buckey Ashland - Libra

I am black woman,
a beautiful, tired, black woman.
Tired of working hard,
and paying my dues like it's bail,
and healthwise, HONEY?
I ain't doin' so well,
I'm tired of standing up,
while people wait for me to fail,
and you have the nerve to ask me why I'm angry?
I say "cause I am Black, and I am woman,
and I got every reason to be mad as hell!"

My man done left me crying,
After all that we had,
I'm tired of the children asking me,
"Have you seen our dad?"
damn I'm so mad,
cause I got to go to court,
just to get some damn support.

Life for me ain't no fun,
hell, I don't even know if my sons will live
to see,
the age of twenty one!

No one looks me in the eye,
cause they scared of who I am,
I'm tired of scrubbin' floors for a livin'
and callin' some young girl "ma'm",
I'm mad as I can be,
I can't do nothin' about this world,
but they steady doin' things to me!
I'm mad cause I'm po' and I ain't never gon' be
rich,
I'm tired of turning on the radio,
and somebody is callin' me a BITCH!
I'm tired of being disrespected,
and takin' the world on by myself,
I'm tired of all these burdens,
and being in bad health.
I'm mad as I can be,
I wonder why,
I ask the lord, "when will I be free?"
In this ungodly big place?
got to worry about my personal shit,
and being snubbed because of my race.

You ask me why I'm angry,
honey, that ain't all that's to
my tale,
I'm Black, and I'm a woman,
and I got every reason to be mad
as HELL!!!
