Our Poisonous Love In all of the passion that we once shared, our heartaches bled and could not be spared. Venom was dealt without little concern, Still through all the years we could not learn. Lashing out angry words with intent to degrade, Cutting through hearts with a razor sharp blade. Each was too proud to admit ourselves wrong, determined to win but both too head-strong! Jealousy played each day with our minds, a time bomb imbedded in which we had designed. Away it would tick on the verge of explosion, for we loved and despised our love of pure poison. . . Jessica L. Aldag (October 1994)
Reason for writing:
I was inspired to write this poem due to experiencing a relationship that was a cross between love and possesiveness. A relationship that went on still, for three years after this poem was written, and began twelve years before this poem was written.
This was a love that was certainly no small thing in my life, and one from which I've grown ever so stronger and wiser from.
