Take Me Home

by Kurt Huie - Taurus

I sat on the bench waiting for you
Rich and vibrant shades of blue
Should I sit or should I stand?
Should I reach out to hold your hand?
Better now I understand
Take me home

Your violent streaks of dire need
Eat the fruit but not it's seed
Does your happiness reside in here?
Free of sadness, filth, and fear?
Better now it seems quite clear
Take me home

Rains outside at least once a day
It covers the houses near the bay
Is it now when I'm to see?
What you are to do with me?
Better now it seems to be
Take me home

This is the last time you will find
Follow the road that twists and winds
Am I all there is to show?
Of the calm and soothing afterglow?
Better now because I know
Take me home

Reason for writing:

I wrote this poem to show that many things society tells us (youth) refuse to promote self-independence. We are always searching for ways to conform or become a part of the crowd. I wrote this poem as an introspective look at youth and the problems we face.
