The Dance

by Kelly Hamrick - Gemini

I still remember the dance we had
beneath the moon and stars
He reached for my hand, with love on his mind
knowing what i had to offer
I placed my hand on his
and walked with him to the sand
He put his arms around my waist
and we swayed to the music in our heads
I layed my head upon his shoulder
thinking how perfect it was
The music continued with me in his arms
not know what he thought of it all
I looked up at him and gazed in his eyes
only to find a blank stare
When the music faded and the dance was through
I told him it was a dream come true
He walked away and moved right on
as I stood alone by the water
I looked at the moon and the music began
never to fade from my heart
That dance we had beneath the stars
the one that stole my heart

Reason for writing:

well, most of my poems i write are inspired by love, as this one was. Its basically about falling in love with someone, and them thinking they love you too, and then they realize that they dont, and leave you standing all alone, and the memory never fades from your heart.
