My Heart Lies Broken

by Elizabeth DeCarte - Scorpio

My heart lies broken on the shelf like some unused toy
The guy who had held it, used it and then threw it away
Useless...
He made me feel alive as if all I ever was was an angel
Made me feel like the happiest girl in the world
Then said goodbye...
It was almost three months ago and still my heart bleeds
It bleeds for the lover’s touch of sweet seduction
The child's eyes so wide with delight
Until the day that the toy is made joyful once again
My heart lies broken on the shelf like some unused toy.
