Old Soul

by Ryco - Leo

Salty tears of an old soul who weeps
Cradles his head in his hands, into the corner he sinks
Wanting forgiveness though he has done no wrong
Seeking kindness all his friends are now gone
Alone he weeps no one giving him a second glance
No extended hands offering a second chance
The old soul knows a change is needed
How do you revive a heart that has always bleeded
Can you save someone who feels beyond lost
Can you give charity to someone who's already paid the cost
He seeks comfort but know it, he'll never find
He's forever searching knowing he's been left far behind
The friendly face he tries to find in a crowd
Talking to himself, his heart is screaming out loud
His outside shows disgust, his inside longs for pride
His pain is reflected in the tears he has cried
He is a fallen man who cannot stand alone
All he truly wants is a place he can call home
He was orphaned by time, victimized by fate
Yearning for help, for he knows it's almost too late
A hand out is not his want - it's shelter in open arms
An embrace to warm him and keep away all the harms
His heart is in need of caring, it's in need of love
He has lost all faith and cannot call on the "powers" above
He just weeps in the corner hoping to fade away
Always wondering if there will be another...and better day

Reason for writing:

I was feeling lonely on valentines day and this is what became of it. Go figure. :)
