BROWN'S COW

by Christopher McCarthy - Capricorn

The cow stood in the field and said
'I'd rather be alive than dead'
An incredible feat when it was heard
For cows its known can't speak a word

But farmer brown gave off a cry
He knew his hearing didn't lie
And once again the cow did said
'I'd rather be alive than dead'

The field became alive with crews
Of cameramen, reporters and scientists with views
Waiting to hear the cow that reportedly said
'I'd rather be alive than dead'

And all were very sceptical
They said 'farmer Brown must be full'
Until again the cow did said
'I'd rather be alive than dead'

On prime viewing news a cow was seen
To udder some words on a viewing screen
The TV switchboard lit up when it said
'I'd rather be alive than dead'

In due coarse the people began to tire and complain
Brown and the cow's limited vocabulary
      were treated with distain
Enough is enough of this animal that said
'I'd rather be alive than dead'

As time went by the cow was told
To say something new or you will be sold
But to Brown the cow did simply said
'I'd rather be alive than dead'

To a local zoo the cow was sold
But Brown was sued for he was told
That the cow no longer said
'I'd rather be alive than dead'

Brown begged the cow to speak through it's cage
He couldn't find words to express his rage
But to his surprise he did find
The cow did speak: 'I've changed my mind'
