The Best Things In Life

by rainbow - Capricorn

I got a hug from my teenage son,
for no reason at all...
An old friend I haven't seen in years,
gave me a telephone call.
My honey told me I was beautiful,
in my old raggedy clothes...
My five year old son gave me an eskimo kiss,
rubbing nose to nose.
My brother called me on the phone,
just to say hello...
We snuggled in front of the campfire,
entranced by the dancing glow.
After a long winter, I hear the birds,
chirping in nearby trees...
When we are out in public I hear,
my boys saying "thanks" and "please".
The ice-cream shop is open, it's time,
for a chocolatey banana split...
Tried on some clothes that were packed away,
To my delight they still fit.
My youngest son is learning to read,
books from cover to cover...
My oldest offers to babysit him,
some alone time for us lovers.
As I get older I begin to believe,
"The best things in life are free"
For what seems to bring the most happiness...
Isn't money but friends and family.

Reason for writing:

Sometimes I get aliitle uptight, and then it always seems like one of these simple little things happen and helps to put things into perspective...know what I mean?
