The door opens She shines through the rain Like a rainbow in the cloudiest of skies The falling rain leaves her to bloom Like a flower in front of me The thought of picking a flower of this kind Should not be If you pick the flower for yourself It is destined to die You can only keep it for so long You do have the power to protect such a flower Provide the flower with the love it may need Help protect it from the weeds of the world You must also give the flower room to grow And never block out the sun that shines on it's beauty Love & comfort her when she wilts Give her a reason to bloom each season of love She is this flower before me Written for Gennifer February 27, 1995 Lee Parker
Reason for writing:
This poem was written for Gennifer, a beautiful girl who literally walked in out of the rain and into my life one night at a small music room in Atlanta. We talked, drew pictures and drank wine while listening to someone play acoustic music. We were very close for a while until the journey of life took her elsewhere. While we were only together for a short while, she will always be dear to my heart. I miss you Gennifer, My Beautiful Flower.
