You were here,but now you've gone, Yet in our hearts, you still live on. you never let us say goodbye, you've left a gap within our lives. Fate took you from us, that we can't forgive, For in our opinion, you should still live. We miss you more and more each day, Why did you have to go away? As time goes by, we will fade, But you will always be the same: The same old smile, the same old clothes, Because for you, no ageing shows. Don't forget us, where you are, I know you're there, amongst the stars. When I look up, into the sky, I can feel you, by my side. With our heavy hearts and blurry eyes, We think of all your days gone by. You loved your family, your friends too, But most of all Ste, we love you.
Reason for writing:
I wrote this poem following the unexpected death of a close and unique friend in February. He was just 18. He is greatly missed. I don't usually write poetry, this just came into my head and I had to write it down before it slipped away, just like Ste did. I hope you enjoy it and thank you for reading it.
