My God Father
On May 11, 1974
When you said yes, did you know what was in store
My God Father you would be
To always protect and watch over me
You knew in your heart, you had no doubt
What this "new job" was all about
You were so special, my forever friend
I knew this closeness would never end
The softest touch, biggest smile, kindest heart
Those were my memories from the start
You would do anything, for anyone
Never to stop until your duty was done
For an Angel God did send
So I knew "your job" did not end
You were sent from Heaven above
To give to us and share your love
My true God Father, yes you are
As you watch down from that shining star
You did not leave; you are not gone
For I know "your job" is not done
On that night, you sent a dove
To always protect and share your love

Reason for writing:
I wrote this poem in dedication to my Uncle who was also my godfather. He was in a terrible accident and did not make it. He passed away, and has always been an inspiration to me.
