It's Not About Chocolate Bunnies

by slm - Libra

I have never thought about Easter and what it means to me
It was always about chocolate bunnies, or so it seemed to be
Dressed up in new clothes, and colored eggs in the yard
And a story of a man, with hands that were badly scarred

Crucify Him!, Crucify Him!, is what the crowd did say
This man hasn't done anything wrong and should go upon His way
This man was born to save this world and to die upon a tree
They made Him a cross to carry, as He walked towards Calvary

Three men were there on Calvary hill, all nailed upon a cross
Two went up to Paradise and the other to hell, forever lost
Father, please forgive them, for they know not what they do
The sun was then darkened, and the temple curtain torn in two

This year I thought about Easter and what it means to me
It's not about chocolate bunnies, but a man who set me free
He was nailed upon a cross for me, to save me from my sin
My Savior is alive and risen, and in my heart He lives within
