Alzheimers

by Jeannie Shinn - Taurus

People watch you and stare
You act as if you haven't a care
I go to leave you and start to cry
He picked another loved one, why?

I know you don't remember me
Your loving face I must still see
Who are you, do I know you, you ask
Just another grandchild hidden in a mask

There will be no more sitting on your lap
Just long and much needed naps
If I could visit you every day
In your heart and mind, would I stay

I do not understand this disease that has you
The bits and pieces of memory you have is few
I hope it causes you no pain
Just know we'll be here through the rain

Dream upon that bright shining star
And know your loved ones will never be far
We are here to hold your hand
To try and fight this disease we'll stand
