Opening the doors to life can really be a scare, Living in a society that doesn't even care, A teen-age child that is honest and strong, But adults treat him as if he doesn't belong, A worker by nature and a school boy too, Harrassed and put down by more than a few, No messing with drugs or sneaking a drink, But of course that isn't what THEY want to think.... I wonder why he tries so hard to be a good child, When everyone assumes he is childish and wild. Sure he needs to grow up a little bit more, But Society is the one that needs to open the door...
Reason for writing:
I wrote this poem for my teenage brother because he chooses to be himself and for that reason people assume wrong things about him. I think we need to take time to get to know someone before we pass judgement on them.
