MASKING THE HOPE

by Samantha Lowe - Scorpio

Failure,
Nothing more, nothing less,
All that is seen are mistakes.

Ugly deformities masking all unseen,
No hope and no chance;
The voice inside screams yet no one hears,
A child is left fragile as the whole world shatters at their feet;
Everything pointing towards the negative.

Unwanted thoughts,
Words no longer needed.

A shattered face left tear-stained and swollen
Too shy to be heard…
Too innocent to speak…
Growing up useless and unwanted leaves the child scarred.

Words given to the infant are shameful to one’s ears
Failure, Stupid, Pitiful…
The child cries.

Help from no one,
No tears shed but that of its own;
Alone in the corner it dreams up fairytales
Tales that disguise reality…
Words of hate hidden in the mind but left unspoken.

Alone, useless, ugly…
They try to mirror yet come up short,
Too hurt to be like any other,
Too scarred to be happy.
