Calling the brine

by Sneak - Virgo

Sometimes acuity of vision smoothers me,
Leaping out with its drunken leer,
Tarnished trench coats a' flapping,
It always knows when I'm not looking.
You see, I'm so sick of drawing lines in the sand,
Nobody ever told me the dunes shift,
And the squeak of crushed years,
Always brings tears to my eyes.
Skeletal staircases have never led where the signs promise,
And the brittleness of bones are inclined to snap,
When the weight of expectation is placed upon them.
So,
I think its time I said,
"Fuck it, let the sand sting me blind",
For I have learnt that reputations are all the more hollow,
When you're rattling round on the inside.
