Early morning silence

by Sneak - Virgo

Marcus Aurelius once wrote,
That he was but a speck in the river of time,
And a speck he might have been,
But one that fetched up on my shore,
Millennium hence.
And I wonder what I will be,
When the courage to be honest,
That flaming comet,
Not destined to visit long,
Streaks across my sky.
And I hope that I won't,
But suspect I probably will,
Be a pebble instead,
One that sinks beyond the surface,
After all,
Ripples never did spread in turbulent water.
And that would be okay,
To join all the other mediocre rubble,
In their forgotten tombs,
But the screams of the tethered dreams,
Drowned in prisons they did not choose,
They,
Will drive me mad.
