I wonder......., If one day I should meet a girl, A certain girl, Perhaps on the train in the partnership of empty seats, Or perhaps on the street with causal glances thrown away, Or perhaps even, In an electronic world, Past the shadows and fears, Of mirror images that never lived. I wonder......., If we should begin to talk, Conversations that last beyond the day, Keeping you warmly comfortable as you drift to sleep, Of small things that begin to ghost, The hesitant moment before she smiles, And the cling of perfume, Whispery in the air, I wonder......., If she should capture my heart, Make the molten, silver in my veins, If I should compose words to dance emotion, And let the ethereal pass, Through the heartbeat of brushed fingertips, I wonder......., Would she judge me ? Glance with wincing eyes, At my plastic feebleness ? For the love I would feel, Would want to haze out the dawn, And I know, At the deepest level, I would want to protect and cherish, And call her, "Baby Girl", I wonder......., Would she hate me then...........?
