I stand mute and unmoving as they lower the casket to the ground No tear falls from my cheeks Only the worry of my young brother standing in front I grab hold of him, trying my best to comfort his innocent ways ‘Always so protective of the little one,’ my mother always said I suddenly feel the strong grip of my father’s hand upon my shoulder Looking down at his strong daughter, proud yet broken down There are tears in his eyes ‘How did you ever get to be so tough?’ he asks I answer using only my eyes Expressing my heartache through a heart of stone Too many times, I’ve watched a loved one die Too many times, I’ve had to say good-bye After the words spoken by the priest, everyone scatters to go their separate ways Leaving me alone with the emptiness of never telling them I cared I watch as the men throw the dirt upon my entire life Burying the lost words, the emptiness that I felt Leaving only the guilt behind I walk away speaking the words- ‘I love you and Good-bye.’Birth sign: Scorpio
