Vacation Alone

Vacation Alone
By Richard Maxfield
6-8-2000

I just took a trip
To a distant shore
To let my cares fly away
Bother me no more

I took this trip alone
With no one at my side
Face the fears inside of me
No where they could hide

You see I find myself
The first time alone
Haunting silence of my house
It once was a home

I could have chose a Lady
To take on my trip
Fake smile on my face
A coin I could flip

I meet a couple of Ladies
We had a little fun
All the time knowing
She is not the one

The eastern trades blowing
Under the shade of palm
Crystal waters sparkle
Peaceful still and calm

As I swam among the coral
With fish colored so bright
A peace of me was missing
Something was not right

The ocean was so beautiful
Turquoise turned to royal blue
But something was still missing
What it was is you

Dancing to the Latin rhythms
Beautiful ladies at my side
The fear creped up inside me
No where I could hide

Though the lady was gorgeous
And oh so much fun
There again I knew
She was not the one

I’ve had the one for me
Is there number two
I shall keep my fake smile
What more can I do

Some day I shall find her
Or maybe she’ll find me
Love joy and happiness
A wondrous life we’ll see

Until that day arrives
I will keep on keeping on
Looking for that Lady
To make my house a home
