My life Eternally sheltered and forlorn But a broken road of downfall tumbling down to its limit But the shell has broken This doll now stares back with pleasure Comfort And good spirit Telling the tale of a damsel found by her lover’s lips And sought out by those who have heard her long journey Speaking now, only that which she wishes That which she has long feared Yet sought to grasp hold of No longer wishing for a brighter tomorrow But living on the day at hand No longer crying her eyes out in sorrow But dying of happiness Staying alive was a struggle- Reaching for hands that didn’t want her Trusting those who planned to go against her Finding love in those who didn’t deserve her She was scarred by the hatred of others Saying that she was too sweet… Too innocent… Too perfect She was beaten down by society’s distance Too different from what she was And too forbidding of all that she could offer But now the shell has broken And her silence no longer weeps Her voice sung out in the loudest of all whispers She can’t keep quiet anymore Her worries no longer lie in her hand but drift off into the wind Her face, no longer stained with tears Now flushed with strength and gain This damsel in distress is no longer who she used to be.
Reason for writing:
I've been so happy these past few weeks. It's as if I am a totally new person. It's as if I've come out of my shell and smiling for the very first time.
