There is no originbal thought,
Not in this day and age,
Not in this society based on comformity.
From birth I have been trained to be the same as my neighbor.
To talk the same,
To dress the same,
To act the same,
To succeed you must also think the same.
I hear feather light voices, "be yourself, and think for yourself,"
But when push comes to shove, it is a dress code or another
Rule that binds us, the faceless that we are.
As i ponder the question, I realize there can be original thoughts.
There is a price though...
That price is your sanity.
Only the truly insane think freely.
Those whom society have failed think freely.
In this society based on conformity, you must be different
To think originally,
Sane people are too well trained to do otherwise.
Reason for writing:
I had to write a poem for my 9th grade english class and conformity in society was the topic.
