Three Tankas About Love

by Bronwen - Virgo

I. Between the Fox Ferns

A bouquet of pink
Tulips rests on the grass, set
Between the fox ferns.
He thinks, "She would’ve loved them,"
And says one more quiet pray’r.

II. Bear

He’s like a wild bear.
He watches Megan across
The table, and she
Knows the look in his eye. She
Will run. But his claw comes fast.

III. One

He is the only
Person in the universe.
The sky spans the earth,
Trekking high above the sea,
For their one devoted kiss.

Reason for writing:

Just exploring different kinds of poetry (and also the many aspects of love). A "tanka" -- which is a 5-line poem of 5, 7, 5, 7 & 7 syllables -- is a variation on the classic haiku form.
