sitting on a bench in the park waiting for the morning to spread it's wings and run away with us love-knots in her hair and cold coffee just taking in the morning all the buds are opening children goin' to school wonder what we're waiting for sand between our toes and sunlight in our hair high tide and opening time she gathers shells and starfish he dreams of the ship he never took the sun is riding high on the sky's blue electric thriller the mountians, they look like rainbows we throw rocks at the street sign new air in our lungs and no change in our pockets they told them it's through it'll never last a poor young poet's boy and a pretty little girl from middle class but to us two, time never got a chance to ruin it forever not for better and together we're one time went by and our couple still sat alone but together on the bench in the park old weathered love the buds still open with the dawn's light touch what's new is old and old is new again alive and unchanged in love for eternity.
