Open your eyes and look around, Way up high and on the ground. Tell me, what do you see? Do you see the world in black and white? Or is everything colorful, vivid, and bright? Tell me, what do you see? I see a world full of racism and hate, But is that to be the world's fate? Tel me, what do you see? Looking around, I see people of all shapes and sizes, Ech one full of new energy and surprises. Tell me, what do you see? If we could just erase all of our anger and pain, Then we will see what our world can gain. Tell me, what do you see? Try seeing the world as a whole, And not in black and white which is dull. Tell me, what do you see? Forget the color of a person's skin, And then you'll see all the beautiful colors within! Tell me... NOW what do you see?
Reason for writing:
My dad and my step-mom always talk negatively about people of different races. I'm so tired of it. So I wrote this poem to try to persuade them to at least think about the hurtful things they are saying. Plus, I just have really strong opnions about racism.
Birth sign: Aquarius
