I'm in your shoes

by FireFly - Libra

They’re always reaching inside-
 They grab their methods-
From the skeletons you left behind-
Then judge your character-
And tell you you’re wrong-

These are those who are learned-
And find the people who best serve-
They’re pompous clout-

And I ask them-
Whose truth are you teaching these days-
Those of a politicians, a feminist, a lawyer, or those of a religious fanatic-
How did you’re identity-
Become lost to these others-

They are dissecting this age-
Using its inquisition-
Not with murder-
But with slander-
And a vanity-
Hungry for power-

Defaming our sacred souls-
Now as before-
Taking away our freedoms-
As well as our own common sense-

They say it is the wisdom of the age-
But could it be possible-
The ones who carried the torch for equality-
Are now the ones venting their pent up rage-

Maybe down in the graves-
May lay the bones-
Of those who broke chains for change-
Silently laughing at us-
Knowing their fervor-
Haunts the beatings hearts of others-
Who’ve come out-
To change the world-
They failed to overthrow-

And it will change-
And it is-
But the blood will be spilt-
Taking the innocent down-
Turning whatever-left-over-love-
Into a match of push and shove-
