call it as you see it

by antwan fields - Aries

i would love to see
how much you think you know
so im calling you out
right now
call it as you see it
no more crap
right now, i think
that you and i
aren't real friendly
call it as you see it
my friends laugh
and say
go ahead and take him out
for our entertainment
call it as you see it
the old man on the front porch screams at us
stop that
dumb kids
their parents should whip them
call it as you see it
i turn toward my opponant
smile briefly
how do you want to be beaten
by me
call it as you see it
my opponant laughs
you're not going to beat me
he roars
im going to kill you
call it as you see it
all the kids want to see it happen
the grownups don't
and this is supposed to be your entertainment
i shout
call it as you see it
finally i see my mother coming up the sidewalk
and i take my quarter out of my pocket
call in the air, i say
and flip it up
call it as you see it
the coin arces
higher and higher and higher
and my opponant just watches it
finally as it begins to come down
my opponant says tails
and it hits the ground on tails
and as he takes my quarter my opponant laughs and i say
you called it as you saw it

Reason for writing:

a game inspired by the pitching pennies game
except your quarter is taken if you guess wrong
my mother told me not to play this game
and i haven't since
