The sun was already high in the sky by the time Cassia woke up. Her mind had been filled with dreams of love just out of reach. All had been about the same person: Jeremy. She knew that she had made a mistake when she turned down his offer, but once she had said it, it couldn't be taken back. So on she went, living like she had before, telling herself even though she loved him she couldn't be with him.
This would be a very very long weekend. Next week was the last concert of the year, she would tell him then. That she had to promise herself. Slowly she crept out into the hall to see if her mother was out and about yet. To her luck she was.
Cassia got dressed and sat down at the computer. She was actually going to do some writing today, without her mother making her cry. Rashi wasn't really the kind of person who fell in love with someone she couldn't have, she just made it so people would feel sorry for her. And it worked. Just a few months ago she had made the best thing ever to happen to her leave. For ten months Cassia had to listen to her wail and moan about how she lost her love.
Then one dayhe came over and she took him back into her arms. Only to cheat on him and then dump him again. Cassia knew that it seemed small, and bearly important to most people, but it was a pretty big factor in her life. Well the main reason was because her own mother blamed her for all of it.
So on went Cassia knowing in her heart of hearts that it really wasn't her fault but taking in all the blame her mother could dish out. She was used to it, and took it as a fact of life. But every so often when her mother would disredit the only love she had ever known other than that Of her two summers with the Watcher.
That was the only way she could keep them straight in her mind one was the Watcher, who now only angels could have. The other was Orion, a new form of the Watcher, flown down from the sky to be with her. He was everything that the Watcher had been and more.
Suprisingly the weekend went quickly, Cassia stayed in bed most of the time, and when she did venture from her practicing it was to watch one of the most uplifting movies she had found that helped her to get through the long nights of regreting Trico. The only person she had told about it was Trisanna. Tris had taken the place for the moment being of Cassia's adopted sister. She had to have someone to talk to, and Tris was closest.
Aliddan, no matter how silly it seemed was the perfect thing to help Cassia, and Tirs had been there when she had broken down crying after she played "Whole new World" and Jeremy told her it was beautiful. No else knew, no one would ever find out either.
Tris told her that Jeremy still cared, even though he had gone back into the shadows. And Tris was the first person to find out what Cassia had hidden in the very bottom of her soul. Monday proved to be one of the most stressful times since she had moved here.
It was early in the day that Cassia noticed something different about Karen and Kourtney. They ignored her comepletely, and they didn't seem to notice Cassia carefully listening to everything they said about her. Every name that Karen called Cassia, and every sideways glance Kourt sentover to Cassia.
During second period the tension escalated a little more. Cassia tried to be kind to Karen, but it was really hard considering Karen seemed to manage to talk to everyone in the game, even if they were on the other team. So it went on for an hour. But finally it was over, time for band. Cassia sent out a sigh of relief.

The room was total chaos as Cassia entered. Automatically she walked out again after she had dropped off her bag. She went out to the gym looking for Tris. At first glance she couldn't find her so she headed back to the room. As she turned the corner her heart started to beat a little bit faster. There was a stream of 6th graders heading through the big metal door. Jeremy must have already gone through because she didn't see him along the line. She started walking by Chrissy and looking ahead to the section where the sax's sat everyday.
Mr. Long looked escpecially agitated today. Probably because it was only four days until the concert, and he had given the band some hard music on Friday. He was yelling as she walked over to put her sax together. She liked the spot she had chosen because it gave a full view of the room where she could look at everyone and Mr. Long couldn't see her. Right where she had expected him sat Jeremy.
She smiled to herself and sat down. She was sorry that she had been moved again. Before she had sat right next to Jeremy. Those were the days they got closer. And the love that she knew she held in her heart, and the glow in his eyes slowly became apparent to everyone, but the two that made the glow.
Tris came in a few minutes later, and was smiling slyly.
"You know what Cassia?" She said out of the corner of her mouth, so Mr. Long wouldn't turn any redder. " Josh likes me, but stupid Ean keeps on asking me out, and Josh doesn't want to hurt his feelings." She smiled a little wider, and Cassia could tell she was thinking back to the dance, where Josh had been all hers.
"Well lucky you, at least you may get someone. I have seen you two together, you make a good couple." Cassia looked over to where Jeremy was trying not to look too interested in their conversation.
"Ok class, take out Peter and the Wolf,"There was some shuffling of papers, and very much cursing, soon eveyrone was ready Mr long raised his hands "Blah, blah, blah.....Big green meadow." Some good music came out of that hour, and then again there were many mistakes, and a few red faces. But through it all Cassia could see out of the corner of her eye Jeremy. I looked like he was having a good time, and he smiled back her a few times, when he caught her staring.
It was after everything had gone to pits that Mr. Long finally told the class to get out Aladdin. They played through, and it sounded good, until they got to the measure before "Whole New World" Mr. Long called for the class to stop.
"Ok, loets start from the beginning again, I want to work on measure 36." There was some moaning from the class, but everyone returned to that measure. They kapt on practicing the same thing over and over until the class was over. "Chrissy, Cassia could you please come over here. Its a tie between which of you gets the solo. I watn both of you to play it for me."
Chrissy went first, but had to stop a few times. Jeremy was talking to R.J. over in the corner when Cassia started. She began to play and all movement in the room stopped. Jeremy had a small smile on his face when she stopped, and Cassia looked as if she might cry. He told her it was good, she smiled sligthly and basicly ran out the door.
:I have to get away from him, I can't cry, can't cry. Come on Cass, what the matter with you. Know you can't see him you are in the highschool. Now you aren't a child anymore. Suck it up:
