WHAT YOU ONCE WERE

by Samantha Lowe - Scorpio

To speak so little words to you is like a curse,
And yet I am afraid of your thoughts,
Afraid of how you see me now, rather than what you once did,
You aren’t the same anymore;

Once, you held me as if to shield me from other fools,
You reached for my hand at every chance that you had,
You kissed me with such a passion that left me quivering when it had ended,
I still yearn for how you once were;

What has changed since then?
What has made you become silent and bored?
What has taken your eyes away from me…

I wish I could reach out my hand and touch you
Make you feel the way that I feel
But I can only sit back and try my best to grab your attention for a second time,
Hopefully for a lifetime;

What I want is to tell you my deepest secrets as we lie in a starlit field,
What I dream of is living an eternity by your side,
And what I need is you;

I still love you.
