Yes, I whisper, I am half in love with easeful Death. Stretching far out into the abyss I feel no fear. He hears my call. The scars on my arms are a beacon To show my willing obedience - I am his own. The cut is deep, The razor was sharper than before. Wrists form a canvas for Deaths art, I become still. Consciousness ebbs, The tide carries me out, torture fades. I am half in love with easeful Death, And he with me.
Reason for writing:
Depression etc., I needed to get some feelings out. I was inspired by Keats's 'Ode to a Nightingale' (a favourite poem of mine) - hence the title. 'Easeful death' seemed to fit the mood I was in so I used his idea. I wanted to convey the impression of a soul finally free from the constraints of life. I would love feedback, as I have only been writing a short time. Constructive criticism is VERY welcome!
