Just a Light Romance

by E. L. Wright - Capricorn

He watched her often.
Intently and with complete ardour
His eyes caressed her body,
Every curve and inch of soft skin
An alternate reality –
A fantasy only the two of them shared.

His love had sprung gradually.
Secret glances across a crowded room,
She was the most beautiful creature
He had ever seen, sensual yet ethereal.
Not just a mere mortal –
His goddess controlled his every thought.

He could not fight the yearning.
Emerald eyes hypnotised and bewitched.
Like Satan she provided temptation,
And unlike Christ he succumbed
Like a lamb to the slaughter –
He sacrificed his very soul for her.

Their eyes would often meet.
He hated the casual disregard
He received as she quickly looked away,
Avoiding his gaze as though like Medusa
He would turn her to stone –
But he was her Pygmalion.

He needed their bodies to be entwined,
At one, united at last.
Their bond would be complete,
Two beings welded together with a burning fire.
He knew their flames were the same –
Soon she would be his for eternity.

That night the right moment was upon them.
He took her and led her to the secluded clearing
Deep within the forest, where all was serene.
The moon shone with an eerie beauty
Emphasising the diamond tears –
The jewels that stained her cheeks.

He could not understand her fear
As she cowered as his feet.
Their bond was stronger than any faith, older than time,
They were two ageless in life as in death.
So her slender wrists he bound –
The knot almost a symbol of their joining.

She pleaded for a release he could not give.
Softly he spoke of the certainty of their lives entwined,
But her cries, joining the wind in its melancholy dirge,
Knew only the despair of one condemned without reprieve.
The midnight hour was upon them –
So he seized her life with both hands, and took it for himself.

Reason for writing:

I wanted to tell a story, and this just evolved. It is VERY experimental - I've never done anything like this before, so I'd appreciate some feedback and constructive criticism. Tell me what you think!
