Paralysis

by E. L. Wright - Capricorn

If I had become a trial –
Why not let me down,
Not even gently but
Hard –
The cuts your barbs made
However superficial to you
Are mortal.
I was too blind to
See your change,
Like a chrysalis
I am discarded
And now you fly.
Use me as your wind –
My very being aches
But let me carry you.
Hate me and torture me,
Laugh at my tragedy
But let me down,
Kindly
Callously
There is no distinction.
Without you I am a void.

Hurt me –
If I feel pain I know I exist.

Reason for writing:

Love, heartbreak, the usual. This one was written in a state of complete despondency, but was quite cathartic. Comments and constructive criticism very welcome...
