Dark shadow upon the wall Are you really there? Whispers in the dark "I love you, you know?" Feeling my hair being flipped through gentle hands Knowing there are eyes on me "I feel like there is something I should say There's regret that eats me alive" A tear drop on my pillow One that is not mine Shutting my eyes tight To keep you there forever "I know..... I know" "Stay, I cant bare for you to leave again If you go, tell God Im coming too" "I love you but I must go" "NO" Opening my eyes The shadows fade Alone in my room No sound but your voice still in my mind Then it fades too I dont want it to Just your voice Thats all I ask for I dont hear it anymore I dont feel your hands stroking my hair Its all gone "Come back....... take me with you."
Reason for writing:
Thinking about my dad who died 2 years ago. He use to wait until he thought i was asleep then he would sit next to my bed, play with my hair, and whisper how much he loved me. This poem is about that and how much I want to see him again. Just once.
