a green leaf

by luis giraldo - Capricorn

maybe
		leaves fall
			from a tree:
				under
				our lives that flourish
deep within the forest’s
			cosmos.

10 billion leaves
		hang over my head
					branched out in a dispersing
									light
									from mellow
									shadows
									asphyxiating me.
“I live up there”, said the boy to the bird
						perched tightly
as he said, “earth? what heaven
is that to me, boy, which grows as the deadgrass
						beneath your feet?”
