Please - please read my poems. Leave comments to no end. However, don't critque them - Just leave praise, my friends. You see: I need attention badly. I must constantly be assured. "You're the greatest poet I've ever met!" I long to hear those words. Now: If you do critique my poetry, I'll respond in rapid defense. This's a place of applause - not honesty. The latter just doesn't make sense. So: I thought I might as well say it. Because - without the "please read" - You might happen to open the poem, And never know how to proceed. Now: I believe this is completely necessary; I never write for me - just for you! To write for oneself is so selfish. And without your wonderful, precious, constant, undying, unconditional appeasing - I don't know what I'd do.
Reason for writing:
If a poem were so important to me that I wanted EVERYONE to read it, I would never cheapen it with the words "please read." It's desperate and completely tasteless in my opinion. So, I just had to get that off my chest. Regardless of the controversy it might stir up. Hope you enjoyed it.
