Missing the Life I Had

by Duff Pearcy - Pisces

Never again will I bestow myself to another.

I want to keep my heart pure.

I want to always remember my past years, and all the times I spent with her, talking of the most extraordinary things.

She was my guardian angel.

She never had the wings, nor did she have the halo, but she made me feel so much and see the world for how it really is.

She gave me hope for the distant future.

She lit the candle that I now see on the horizon.

I will never be able to move on.

I've decided to live in the past only because that was when I was truly happy.

I understand that friends come and go, but why must my guardian angel leave me on my own when I need her most?

I miss her, and I will always miss her, until the day I happen to die.

Reason for writing:

I try to write most of my poems based upon experiences that I've had, but then I also want the reader to connect with what I'm trying to say. So I leave the poems I write some what open and not so concrete, leaving enough room for the readers imagination to fill in the pieces. This poem happens to be about a lost love, which I'm sure most people can relate to.
