Shadows of Loneliness

by Jenna - Virgo

She sits, weeping,
Anticipating the blow that will never come.
He hates her.
Does he?
She is sorry, regretful that she caused him so much pain.
Maybe he should have left her when he had the chance.
How much pain can one person stand?
How much remorse for hurting the one she loves most can she
    hold inside.
She is sorry,
Sorry that he has had to take care of her these many years,
Sorry that she has wrongfully taken the love that should
    have been given to someone more deserving;
Sorry but grateful,
Thankful that he chose to keep her
And not leave her where danger lurked.
She will repay him for his kindess
Even if it takes eternity,
Even if she has to leave him so he will have no more
    trouble.
She will not tread into his heart any longer.
She will not go where she is not wanted.
She will stand on the sidelines
In the shadows of her hand-crafted loneliness.
