For a moment in time we couldn’t be pulled apart, but now your off, looking for a new start. You couldn’t imagine the pain I went through when I realized you went off to find someone new. You promised forever, you said I was the one, so you could imagine my surprise when you said we were done. I dreamed of a life with you by my side, always there for each other, always there to confide. I saw it so clearly, it seemed so real, a life shared together was part of the deal. But you backed out, and left me here alone our only communication is when you call on the phone. For a moment in time you were my best friend, giving a hand to hold and an ear to lend. You said I’d never lose you and that you’d always be there. I guess that’s life, which we know is never fair. I love you for who you are and the person you strive to be, I just hope you realize that you’re the only one for me.
Reason for writing:
This poem is for Dave, the person who I thought I could never fall for, but did. Even more, I don't think I'll love anyone more.
