Half awake My eyes absorb A burnt sienna reverie That warms the skin, Welding you and I In a fading Yet smouldering light. Autumn’s heady scent Intoxicates – A sweetness derived From long days of heat. Spring’s youth And Summer’s joy Has aged a world ripe Under the mature Star fire. Nature lingers in her cycle, Wistful for her youth Yet reluctant to Depart from her Most sensual child – The season of her sunset. Half asleep, Obliviously we smile, Caressed by a wind That bears with it The shiver of dark.
Reason for writing:
Well..it's Autumn, and it happens to be one of my favourite times of year. I also love Keats's 'To Autumn' and wanted to try a tribute myself. Comments and constructive criticism very welcome...
