Pain is Pleasure is Desperation

by E. L. Wright - Capricorn

I’m bracing myself for impact
as we fall. Velocity is no issue
with you and as much as I need
the scream of release, I’m too
terrified to let go.

"Pathetic dependency" you’d
most likely say to me, and
you’d probably be right. You
always are right. All present and
correct – that’s you.

That’s well and good, but by
God you give me a thrill. Mad
bad, we fight, we hate, and each
time I’m kicked in the shins I’ll
laugh at your passion.

Of course there’s no point to
US, we’re nothing. It’s the
power you lust over, not me. But
undeterred, I merely smile, and
hang on for grim death.

“Crazy girl” you say. The epithet
will stick, and only you could say
it with that venom. But at least I
provoke an emotion. Thank God
you remember how to feel.

Reason for writing:

Hmmm.... a bitter little poem, this one. Just random thoughts, questions, etc. I think it shows my disappointment with certain aspects of my life. Comments very welcome as long as they are constructive... :)Em x
