Longing to Forget You

by E. L. Wright - Capricorn

How long has it been?
Months and years
Could have flashed by
In an instant or second,
Or in my intake of breath
As you pass, as sharp
As the dagger you twist
Deep within.
Unknowing, your glance
Forgets me, as though
I am but an ornament,
Given with thought
Yet unwanted, unnecessary.
I sit hoping and waiting,
Gathering dust,
Now broken.
Has it only been days
Since we lost each other?
Time ceases to exist
Now I cannot feel your
Warmth or touch,
And stretches out
An eternity alone.
Your memory has returned again…
Please let me forget.
I cannot live or breathe,
Do anything,
While it smoulders.

Reason for writing:

My ex-boyfriend. I couldn't stop thinking about him and it was driving me insane. Comments and constructive criticism very welcome... Em x
