In this field- The battle cries of a thousand wars- Shouted into dark shadows- The lust for man’s bloodshed- Is held in the darkest shades- Hope’s dangling cry- Gone from this suffering sky- See the children run in rags- Shelter in broken homes- Ripped bodies, with blood tears- Heart beating, fear is here- They all breathe it- And see it- A war reality- If the flowers bloomed- Colored this place with love- Where misery lives in shadow- Light penetrates- No robbing the future- Stealing kindness- And peace- Love needs to rein supreme- Give these victims- Peaceful dreams of reality-
Reason for writing:
I think of the wars in Kosovo. The days of oppression in South Africa. The newspaper men executed or jailed in Iran, for speaking their mind. The Palestinians who've been suppressed and dispossed around for 50 years. What peace we have, is so foreign to others...
