Falling out of love
I'm sorry if I made you think I knew what I wanted
would it make you feel any better
if I told you I thought I knew too?
Well, I did...for a time.
But it all fell away.
Changed again.
And this time I didn't see it coming
till it snuck up and pulled the
ground out from under me.
And I'm sorry,
so so sorry I hurt you,
but what would you have had me do?
Lie?
Pretend?
Fake it?
You know as well as I that love cannot
be lied, pretended, or faked.
No, not for an instant.
I'm sorry that I fell out of love with you,
but I need to be someone different right now.
I cannot have responsibility and weight of
that kind of relationship.
I cannot be with you any longer.
And I know you do not understand
and I know you cannot understand right now
but maybe someday you will see
that what I did was right.
And that I really had no other choice.
What else can I say,
but I'm sorry.
