Empty Footprints

by slm - Libra

Looking at my life and the memories that come to mind
I am left with empty footprints that people left behind
The little things they did for me to show how much they cared
The time that we went fishing or a secret that we shared

The time we share is priceless as the memories in my mind
Our lives slip through our fingers, only memories left behind
Take a look around you, before time slips through your hand
Tell someone you love them or their pain you understand

Last night I told a little child, not now, I don't have time
The look upon her face is now embedded in my mind
I sat there feeling guilty and then I knew what I must do
As the little hands hung around my neck, whispering I love you

One day they'll stop to remember the memories in their mind
Will there be any empty footprints, that you left behind?
This life is but a vapor and our lifetime goes by so fast
Stop and make a memory before this day becomes your past
