Mother, do I Make You Proud

by chris - Aries

Mother, he's tried to make you proud
mother, he's tried to stand tall
but mother,
he's lost himself
he doesn't know who you are.

He hopes he didn't make you cry
but he feels he's let you down
mother would you still love him
after all he's done?

Mother, he loves you
but can you recall
your son is not that same as he used to be
he's trying to find himself
he just wants you to be proud.

When you look at him
to you see things that make you stand tall
because he hates his life
and what he's done to it
he walks around feeling so small.

He can't smile
because he's not that strong
he feels the strain creep in
he's alone again
with no one to call.

His first step was so big
and you helped him along
but you finally let him go
you knew he'd make it on his own.

Now he's grown old
you've lost your hold
doing things on his own
he's fucked up more than once
a thousand times it seems
it seems the devil's crept in
he's turning in to someone he thought
would be free from so many sins.

Mother, he feels like a child again
lost and all alone
can't find that direction
he doesn't no which way to go.

Every story that he tells
makes her think she must not of loved him enough
and that's why he feels
he's headed straight to hell.

But one day he'll make you proud
and one day his mother will cry
cause her son is finally happy
and she can look at him
and see she did raise him well
he justed needed time to grow and learn
but in the end she knew he'd make her proud.

Reason for writing:

Its about how I've done a lot of stupid things recently, and pushed important people in my life away. Things that I thought as a person, I'd never do. And this poem is just my way of telling my mom, even though she loves me more than anything in this world, that she didnt raise me wrong, because Im the one who screwed up... and I hope one day I can really make her proud.
