Gonna Soar

by FireFly - Libra

No matter how many times-
You write your blood in each poem-
The feelings that sat uncomfortably-
Never come closer to releasing you-

I was a monster; I held daggers so close to protect myself-
Though I used it on love itself-
Made promises I couldn’t keep-
Especially when my head was in the noose-
But I can’t fight that-
It was something I know, I never want-
Love won’t find any room-
If all you got is hurt-

Just look around-
You are not happy, but you are-
The reasons you got where you at-
The space between your feet-
Isn’t the perfect place, but its home-

If letting go means forgetting-
If feeling numb is taking you there-
If tears help you bare the reality-
Little steps push you further-
From your cradled despair-

Next time, when you have it-
You know what not to do-
You know what to look for-
You know all the mistakes from both sides-
Set you up to just soar-
