helix

by Bedwyr Mclean - Leo

he see's it all, it was his place
she didn't really mind
4 legs, 5 eyes, a helix twist
will it last the strain of time
in too deep - not far enough
drowning in the shallows
the stragglers always lead the crowd
unto the poison'd apple
Cinderella, Thumbelina, balanced on a leaf
searching on a darkened shore
splintered wrecks, caught on the reef
the braids undone, time withers all
they knew it from the start
spirit cloaked, darkness reigns
concealed in cancerous hearts
