Carrying a heavy wooden burden laden with countless splinters down a narrow winding cobblestone road He travels alone His aching blistered feet, slowly painfully stepping each step ever closer on a journey known only to One .....the end a faint light of hope but He must continue; a fateful destiny awaits Thousands upon thousands gather to witness an innocent man condemned to die people who once praised and glorified now violent crowds cursing His very name weak and tired; loving eyes hurting for the lost as blood drips from His brow His heart longing to be free of this burden He does bear ...but He must continue; a fateful destiny awaits The Journey seems like an eternity on and on the road stretches forever into the darkened night of His life unable to move on; stumbling He falls unimaginable weight upon a back flogged repeatedly, tearing into flesh so deep succumbed to the pain His human body can not bear another takes the burden the Place of the Skull His final destination where Death lurks in the dark to take His innocent life as a ransom for the guilty... but He must continue, a fateful destiny awaits Why must One for many be; a sacrifice as perfect an unblemished lamb..."But Father why me?" His plea echoing into the lonely silence for this is a task only He can fulfill ...for He will continue and in the end hope will be restored Strapped down arms stretched wide rusted iron nails pounded each strike in agonizing pain He cries out deeper and deeper into caring hands so gentle and true until it is time for Him to be a symbol of love hung on a tree for the whole world to see gasping for breath; desperately holding onto life longing for peace amidst approaching death though able He is to cease this living nightmare a humble servant to the sinner that time would later reveal in triumph over death whispering last words of love His soul floating on the clouds blood and water pouring out His side slowly...and slowly a mournful atmosphere envelops on a lonely hill called Calvary the end is now a beginning waiting to unfold One dying so that we may live.... ....Forever.
Reason for writing:
what happened 2000 years ago has very much an impact on us all today---may we reflect upon Him who sacrificed His own life as an atonement for us all
He lives now and He lives forever--inside my heart and inside countless more......take His gift that you too will live
