Elastic Catch

by FireFly - Libra

I had this feeling settle-
Her home-
That penetrates my armored metal-
Her world can easily get in-
Spinning in front of me-
Making me dizzy-

It was occupied-
You’d be there-
It was so warm-
I’d slow myself down-
And feel at home-

For years I found it-
I never justified it-
I never lost it-
I always wanted it-

Home, I didn’t know-
It was much too early-
I left in the flurry-
The doors closed more-
Behind me-
Behind you-
A stray dog-
I waited for it to open-
A stray dog-
Again-
It all felt wrong-
Our grace was lost-
In this San Francisco fog-

Never home again-
Friends I’ve lost-
Her love disarmed me-
Is erasing me-
Is erasing me-
Stranger’s face-
They can only see-

That’s what she wanted-
Even though she couldn’t say it-
I wasn’t the future-
I was the elastic catch-
Tasting her heart-
When she was only scratching-
The surface-
